When I first became a mother, my heart overflowed with love for my beautiful newborn twins.  As I fell more in love with my babies my heart broke as I thought about all the babies in our country that are unloved, abused and neglected.  I am blessed to have so many people that love me in my life  and I am determined to pay those blessings forward.  Over the past 8 years I have worked at Love Foster’s Hope’s summer camps, directed their mentoring program and ran a graduation party for Angel Reach for graduating foster youth.

It breaks my heart to see so many amazing kids become beaten down and hopeless because they don’t have anyone in their corner, fighting for them. I believe if more people understood how amazing these youth are and how powerful a few hours of their time could be in changing the course of a youths life we could start changing some of these staggering statistics.  There are so many wonderful organizations and opportunities that need help and it’s so easy to get involved!  We Will Speak was created to get the message out that the foster care system is broken but not hopeless, it just needs more loving, compassionate people to get involved and start changing some lives.

I am a wife, a mother, a mentor, a lover of people and their stories, a lover of community and a lover of Jesus (and also Dr. Pepper, I love that too).  I believe that every child needs a champion and that all people can thrive when they are encouraged and supported in a healthy environment.  Some of the most rewarding experiences of my life have come from walking through life with teens and youth who have been in the foster care system and are trying to make sense of their suffering.  As Viktor Frankl says “Suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds meaning”  My prayer for all of the youth and young adults we work with is that they will be able to find meaning in their suffering and tell their stories in a world that desperately needs to hear them in order to make life better for those children coming up through the same system behind them.

I am a wife, a mom, a foster momma, a lover of Jesus and people. All people, people with pretty pasts, messy pasts, the ones in the middle of pit or the ones with great stories of overcoming. All ages and races, all backgrounds and futures. The world of foster care is not one I grew up knowing much about or even wondering about. However, God turned my world upside down as He alone began to break my heart and open my eyes for the children in care and the parents, especially the moms behind the kids. We could spend hours and days talking about what is wrong with the system and what could be done to fix it, but that is not my passion. My passion is starting the conversation with people about what needs are out there and helping every person find how they can positively impact, in a real and valuable way, these kids!  We can each do one part, do that part really well, and collectively we can see a radical and beautiful change to the system. Most importantly we can witness life long changes in the lives of these kids who are so valuable and worthy of any amount of work or sacrifice on our part. Will you join us?!?!!

As a mom and as someone who has always cared deeply about children, it was difficult to be exposed to the overwhelming needs and problems with the foster care system and not want to get involved at the next level. The more I learned and the more stories I heard, I realized that sitting on the sideline was not and option. We need big changes, perhaps an overhaul of the foster care system, and our hope and prayer is that We Will Speak will be the very loud voice that will be heard and will make a difference.

I am a commercial sports and portrait photographer who is about to become a first time father in 2016. I’ve always loved telling people’s stories and creating captivating visuals to help people tell their stories, so when I was first introduced to he foster system through Love Fosters Hope a few years ago I have been passionate about telling these stories. The more I learn, the more I realize how broken parts of our system are, and the more I want to help these amazing young individuals get their stories out.
